ABOUT
The history of Mongolian art of contortion, talented teachers, performers and their beautiful acts are renowned all over the world. They transformed ancient body posture and unsophisticated traditional contortion acts into a classic masterpiece of beauty and grace.
In 1956, renowned contortion teacher T.Tsend-Ayush taught her first student, eight years old B.Norobsambuu. This event marked the genesis of a groundbreaking phase in Mongolian contortion pedagogy, a legacy that resonates in modern training techniques.
Tsend-Ayush approach centered around tailoring training programs to match the unique aptitude of each student, a method that proved instrumental in nurturing exceptional talent. In 1959, the act “ Flower on the flower” - a creation of Tsend-Ayush performed by her student B.Norovsambuu- significant the birth of Mongolian classical contortion era. T.Tsend -Ayush’s legacy was carried on by renowned contortionists, teachers D.Majigsuren and B.Norovsambuu., both State Prize winners themselves.
Prominent Mongolian contortionists, who have been extensively trained and mentored by them, are sharing their knowledge through workshops at our Contortion Convention.
